Update Aureole

Aureole looks for its new versions by itself, and never installs them without you. Your license includes updates for one or two years, depending on the plan; after that, the last version received stays yours. This guide shows how it works, and where to set it.

In short
  • Aureole checks every day for a new version, and offers it to you with its notes.
  • To check right away: “Check for Updates…”, in the Aureole menu.
  • Settings are in Settings›General, “Updates” section.

How it works

At launch, then every twenty-four hours, Aureole checks whether a new version exists. If so, it offers it to you, with its notes: you install it, skip it, or wait. Installing relaunches Aureole; your conversations and files aren’t touched.

To check right away: “Check for Updates…”, in the Aureole menu, in the menu of its menu bar icon , or in Settings›About, which also shows the last check. In the Aureole bar, the /update command does the same.

Settings

In Settings›General, “Updates” section:

  • “Check automatically”, on at first;
  • “Download automatically”, off at first: when on, the new version is downloaded in advance, and installed when you quit Aureole, with no further question.

What your license covers

Your license includes every version released for one year for Personal, two years for Pro and Team, from purchase. The date is on your license card, in “My Account…”, “Updates included” row. After that, Aureole keeps working, with no time limit, in the last version received; extending updates is possible, never automatic.

If you’re stuck

“Update ready — installed at next launch”

Quit Aureole, then relaunch it: the new version installs at that moment.

The check fails

Try again later. You can also download the latest version from our site, and drag it into Applications: your data isn’t in the app, it stays.

Aureole can’t update from Downloads

Drag Aureole into the Applications folder, relaunch it from there, and try again.
