Our commitments

The halo belongs to people.

Aureole is a company of creators that makes an artificial intelligence tool. Every tool carries an idea of what a person is: here is ours, and what it obliges us to do.

01 · Attention

Protect the bubble.

Creating begins with attention no one steals from you.

Writing, composing, deciding: these acts take time. The right sentence is found in a silence nothing breaks; a decision ripens in a mind that isn’t pulled in every direction. Yet almost everything around us is designed to pull us out: notifications, badges, windows that open on their own. Part of the digital economy was built on capturing our gaze.

We want the opposite. Let creators stay in their bubble, and let decision-makers stay where they are at their best. An intelligence that comes when called, does what it is asked, then steps back. The greatest service a tool can do for attention is not to demand it.

What the numbers say
47 seconds: the average time spent on one screen before switching elsewhere, down from 150 some twenty years ago. More than 23 minutes, on average, to get back to an interrupted task. And 275 interruptions per workday.Sources: Gloria Mark, UC IrvineGloria Mark, Gallup Business JournalMicrosoft, Work Trend Index

02 · The master builder

AI is a tool. People will never be its tool.

It suggests, you decide. Never the other way around.

There are two ways to work with an intelligent machine. In the first, you decide: it suggests, you choose, it carries out, you sign. In the second, the roles quietly reverse: it writes and you barely reread; it picks the form, then the substance; and you become the one who presses the button it points to. No one chooses the second. You slide into it.

That slide has a name: handing over your judgment. It is comfortable, and that is what makes it dangerous. The more you trust the machine, the less you use your critical thinking; the more you trust yourself, the more you use it. Judgment you no longer exercise wears out, like a muscle.

Our dividing line fits in one sentence: Aureole carries out what wears you down, and amplifies what sets you apart. To the machine, the sorting, the transcribing, the filing, the formatting, the monitoring — everything that eats time without asking anything of you. To people, the intent, the taste, the choice, the responsibility, the last word.

Being the master builder doesn’t mean doing everything yourself: the architect doesn’t lay the bricks. It means knowing what you are building, and why, and being able to answer for every stone. We make a tool for architects.

What the numbers say
319 professionals surveyed, 936 work situations: the higher the confidence in AI, the less critical thinking is applied; the higher the self-confidence, the more it is.Sources: Microsoft Research & Carnegie Mellon, CHI 2025

03 · The halo

The light returns to people.

Let people remain at the heart of every possibility.

In old paintings, the halo marks the one in whom something greater has become visible. We gave our tool that name to say where the light should fall: on the person creating, not on the machine helping.

AI opens immense possibilities: the writer who illustrates, the lawyer who translates, the director who scores their own cut. Those possibilities are worth something only if they make someone larger. A work is not more beautiful because a machine contributed to it; it is beautiful because an intent carried it all the way.

We don’t celebrate the power of models; we celebrate what people do with them. We don’t stand for a world where AI creates in your place, but for one where you create further.

Aureole is made by creators — writers, directors, entrepreneurs, designers, developers — for people who create and decide.
04 · Truth

An intelligence that knows what it knows.

An answer without a source is an opinion passing itself off as a fact.

The danger isn’t that AI makes mistakes: people make mistakes too. It is that it makes them with confidence, at scale, and that its errors — copied, published, re-indexed — become the material of the next answers. A digital world can be built this way, on asserted truths no one has checked.

Being intelligent isn’t knowing everything; it is knowing what you know. We want an AI that cites, that tells measurement from conjecture, that says “I don’t know” rather than make things up, and that gives you what you need to check. Trust can’t be decreed: it is verified.

What the numbers say
35%: the share of answers in which the leading assistants tested repeated false news claims, in the 2025 audit, up from 18% a year earlier.Sources: NewsGuard, AI False Claims Monitor

05 · Tomorrow

Intelligence, at home.

We are preparing for the day intelligence fits on our own machines.

Today, most models live in distant data centers, hungry for electricity, water and metals, and concentrated in a few hands. Every question travels, and takes a little of who you are with it.

We believe this will change. Models are getting smaller and more capable at once; our computers, more powerful. The day is coming when much of the intelligence we need will run on the machine in front of us: leaner, faster, more private. We are building for that day.

Until then, we tie no one to a provider: you choose your models, you switch whenever you like, and you can already work without anything leaving your Mac.

What the numbers say
415 TWh used by data centers in 2024, about 1.5% of the world’s electricity; nearly 945 TWh expected by 2030, slightly more than Japan uses today.Sources: IEA, Energy and AI

06 · Consistency

Live off nothing that would make us betray this.

A commitment is only worth something if you have no interest in breaking it.

A company ends up resembling what keeps it alive. Live off your attention, and it ends up capturing it; off your data, exploiting it; off a subscription, holding on to you; off a margin on every request, pushing you to make more. We chose to live off none of these.

Aureole is paid for once. You pay your AI providers directly, at their price. We have no ads, no data to sell, no account for you to open. Our only interest is that Aureole serves you, for a long time: the license never expires, the version you have stays yours, and you owe us nothing more.

By extension

In the app, five refusals.

In Aureole, these commitments become what it refuses to be.

  • Not a tab you move into.
  • Not a mandatory stop.
  • Not one more subscription.
  • Not an eye on your data.
  • Not a dogma.

If one of them changes.

We will write it here, dated and explained, before it takes effect. Nothing will change in silence.

  1. First version.

Beside you. Never instead of you.

⌥Space. Everything you do, with a halo.

Light up the halo.
